Protecting public health
Perspecta is dedicated to partnering with the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) in their mission to enhance, promote, and protect the health and well-being of all citizens. Working alongside HHS’s operational divisions (OpDivs), we support OpDivs individual and collective missions by delivering relevant, timely, safe and effective health solutions to market. Blending the regulatory and scientific foundations of these health-based products and solutions will promote the protection of global populations.
What we do:
Cloud computing and infrastructure services
Perspecta enables the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) mission by managing the operations and maintenance of the agency’s data centers and IT infrastructure, which span across the Washington, DC metropolitan area, as well as remote field offices throughout the country. The cloud computing and infrastructure solution enables FDA to host their workloads on the optimal platform across an enterprise hybrid cloud as well as legacy infrastructure environments. Perspecta provides support for the applications and software running in FDA’s Data Centers and Cloud environments including over 400 custom applications.
Perspecta’s support of the agency’s data centers and infrastructure with ITIL-based management operations ensures the FDA is able to improve public health by helping accelerate innovations that make medicines and medical products more effective, safer and affordable. Support through an agile application infrastructure for the mobile workforce and securing connected medical device futures will continue to improve the FDA’s ability to provide citizens with access to the accurate, science-based information they need to use medicines and foods for maintaining and improving their health.
Perspecta provides cybersecurity support to protect sensitive information at FDA data centers by preventing, detecting, and mitigating external and internal cyber threats, vulnerabilities and risks. On a 24x7x365 basis, we monitor the FDA network, systems, infrastructure and applications for incidents or potential outages and rapidly detect, analyze, investigate, contain, and report on cybersecurity incidents using cybersecurity capabilities and tools.
The FDA plays a significant role in the nation’s counterterrorism capability by ensuring the security of food supply and by fostering the development of medical products to respond to deliberate and naturally emerging public health threats. Perspecta supports this critical role by providing a secure and reliable IT environment that enables swift and appropriate responses by the agency.
Analytics and data services
Perspecta supports the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), and CDC/ATSDR public health partners’ response to public health threats by using spatial data analysis to effectively analyze location and health information. Perspecta links geographic information system (GIS) science analytics, technology and visualization capabilities to public health initiatives while also supporting public health research for the preparedness and prevention of future threats. We combine geospatial science—including epidemiology, geospatial statistics and environmental modeling—with IT expertise in data management, analytics, application development and project coordination to enable a GIS approach for detecting and responding to new and emerging health threats.
Why it's important:
Strengthening the protection of public health and safety must be accomplished by thorough research, regulation and supervision of health care solutions. These solutions are paramount in the advancement of innovations to ensure a modern and protected global health care system.
